Fellowships & Research Opportunities

Mission

The Center for 17th- & 18th-Century Studies is dedicated to advancing the study of the early modern era—from its roots in the sixteenth century through its evolution into the long-eighteenth century. It administers the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, as well as an array of scholarly programs designed to take advantage of the library’s special collections.

Fellowships

The Center offers both short- and long-term fellowships for research stays at the Clark Library.

Clark Summer Institute

To support the fellows in residency at the Clark Library, the Center has established the Clark Summer Institute. Each year a professor from UCLA leads this interdisciplinary research group based at the Clark. The Institute focuses on new developments in the field and shared works-in-progress. Attendance is encouraged but not a requirement for a fellowship.
